Adare

The charming little village of Adare in Co. Limerick, was founded in the 13th century and is located only 18 kilometres southwest of Limerick city. Known for its thatched cottages, colourful buildings, rich history and fine dining, enjoy a stroll around Adare.

Bunratty

The 15th century Bunratty Castle was once a Norman stronghold and was the site of several battles throughout its long history. The village grew up around the castle and became an important market town in the 18th and 19th centuries. Today the restored Bunratty Castle and Folk Park is a poular tourist attraction. The folk park is a living history museum that recreates life in 19th-century Ireland.

Cliffs of Moher

There is little more can be said about the spectacular Cliffs of Moher. This iconic landmark is one of Ireland’s favourite tourist attractions, and for good reason. Rearing up 214 metres (702 feet) out of the Atlantic, the cliffs are 14 kilometres (9 miles) long. It goes without saying that the views are incredible, looking out over the Atlantic to the Aran Islands. The cliffs are home to a variety of birdlife, including puffins, razorbills, and guillemots. The Cliffs of Moher visitor centre is also well worth a visit, giving an enjoyable and educational overview of the cliffs and the nearby bird and sealife.

Return via the coastal route

After the cliffs, we make our way home via the coastal route of Co. Clare, passing Lahinch, Doonbeg, Kilkee and Kilrush before taking the ferry from Killimer to the north Kerry village of Tarbert.
